The aalayam is located in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, India. Karur is on the Erode – Tiruchirappalli rail and road corridor and is easily reached from all parts of Tamil Nadu. See the How to Reach section for directions.

The presiding deity is Sri Maha Devi Amman, worshipped as Adi Parashakti — the Supreme Mother. Sannidhis for Vinayagar, Murugan, the Navagrahas, the Saptha Kannimar, Naga Devathai and the guardian deity are also present. Read more on the About page.
மூலவர் ஆதிபராசக்தியாகப் போற்றப்படும் ஸ்ரீ மகாதேவி அம்மன். விநாயகர், முருகன், நவக்கிரகங்கள், சப்த கன்னிமார், நாக தேவதை, காவல் தெய்வம் ஆகியோருக்கும் சன்னதிகள் உள்ளன.
The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. On Fridays and festival days the hours are extended. The full schedule is on the Poojas page.
ஆலயம் தினமும் காலை 6:00 முதல் மதியம் 12:00 வரையும், மாலை 4:00 முதல் இரவு 8:30 வரையும் திறந்திருக்கும். வெள்ளிக்கிழமைகளிலும் திருவிழா நாட்களிலும் நேரம் நீட்டிக்கப்படும்.
The morning abhishekam (around 8:00 AM) and the evening Sayarakshai pooja (around 5:30 PM) are the most spiritually uplifting times. Fridays, Tuesdays, Pournami and the month of Aadi are especially auspicious — but expect larger crowds.
காலை அபிஷேகம் (சுமார் 8:00) மற்றும் மாலை சாயரட்சை பூஜை (சுமார் 5:30) மிகச் சிறப்பான நேரங்கள். வெள்ளி, செவ்வாய், பௌர்ணமி மற்றும் ஆடி மாதம் அன்னைக்கு மிக உகந்தவை — அன்று கூட்டம் அதிகமாக இருக்கும்.
General darshan is free for all devotees. Charges apply only for sevas such as archana, abhishekam and special alankaram, which are displayed at the temple counter.
பொதுத் தரிசனம் அனைவருக்கும் இலவசம். அர்ச்சனை, அபிஷேகம், சிறப்பு அலங்காரம் போன்ற சேவைகளுக்கு மட்டுமே கட்டணம்; விவரம் ஆலயக் கவுண்டரில் காட்சிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
Devotees are requested to wear modest, traditional attire. Men may wear a veshti/dhoti or trousers with a shirt; women may wear a saree, pavadai-dhavani or churidar with dupatta. Shorts, sleeveless tops and revealing clothes are not appropriate inside the temple.
பாரம்பரிய, கண்ணியமான உடை அணிந்து வரவும். ஆண்கள் வேட்டி அல்லது பேண்ட்-சட்டை; பெண்கள் புடவை, பாவாடை-தாவணி அல்லது துப்பட்டாவுடன் சுடிதார். அரைக்கால் சட்டை, கையில்லா உடைகள் தவிர்க்கவும்.
Please leave footwear at the designated stand, wash your feet before entering, and maintain silence near the sanctum. Circumambulate (pradakshinam) in the clockwise direction. Follow the instructions of the archakas and temple staff.
Photography inside the sanctum is not permitted. Mobile phones should be kept on silent mode.
காலணிகளை உரிய இடத்தில் விட்டு, கால்களைக் கழுவி உள்ளே செல்லவும். கருவறை அருகே அமைதி காக்கவும்; வலம் வரும்போது கடிகாரச் சுற்றில் செல்லவும். கருவறையில் புகைப்படம் எடுக்கக் கூடாது; கைபேசியை அமைதி நிலையில் வைக்கவும்.
Temple volunteers are happy to assist elderly and differently-abled devotees. Please inform the temple office in advance, especially on festival days, so that arrangements can be made.
முதியோர் மற்றும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளி பக்தர்களுக்கு ஆலயத் தன்னார்வலர்கள் உதவுவார்கள். குறிப்பாகத் திருவிழா நாட்களில், முன்கூட்டியே ஆலய அலுவலகத்துக்குத் தெரிவிக்கவும்.
Archana can be booked at the temple counter at any time during darshan hours. Abhishekam, alankaram, homam and other special sevas should be booked in advance through the temple office. Please share the devotee's name, nakshatram (birth star) and gothram.

Yes. Devotees in other cities or abroad can write to the temple office with their name, nakshatram and gothram, and make the offering by bank transfer or UPI from the Donate page. The archana is performed in their name on the requested day.

Families usually visit at least once a year, cook pongal in the temple premises, perform abhishekam and archana in the family's name, and offer the first prayer before weddings, tonsure and other new beginnings. Traditional offerings include flowers (especially jasmine, arali and marigold), garlands, turmeric, kumkum, lemons, coconut, bananas, betel leaves, ghee or gingelly oil for the lamps, and sarees for the Mother. Please avoid plastic covers where possible.

Yes. Mottai (tonsure) and kaadhu kuthu (ear-piercing) ceremonies for children are performed before the Mother as family vows. Please book in advance with the temple office.

The Thiruvilakku (lamp) Pooja is held on Pournami evenings and Aadi Fridays. Women devotees of all ages may participate. Lamps and pooja materials are provided; prior registration at the office is appreciated.
பௌர்ணமி மாலைகளிலும் ஆடி வெள்ளிக்கிழமைகளிலும் திருவிளக்கு பூஜை நடைபெறுகிறது. எல்லா வயதுப் பெண்களும் கலந்து கொள்ளலாம்; விளக்கும் பூஜைப் பொருட்களும் வழங்கப்படும்.
Yes. Kumkum, turmeric and flower prasadam are given after archana. Naivedyam prasadam such as pongal and sundal is distributed after poojas, and annadanam is served on festival days and sponsored days.

Yes. Devotees can sponsor annadanam on birthdays, anniversaries, or in memory of loved ones. The sponsor's name is included in the sankalpam of that day's pooja. See Annadanam.

Certainly. Rice, dal, ghee, oil for lamps, camphor, sarees and vessels for the temple kitchen are gratefully accepted. Please hand them over at the temple office and collect an acknowledgement.

By train: Karur Junction is on the Erode – Tiruchirappalli line with trains from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Bengaluru.
By bus: Frequent government and private buses connect Karur with Trichy, Erode, Namakkal, Dindigul, Salem and Coimbatore.
By air: The nearest airports are Tiruchirappalli (about 80 km) and Coimbatore (about 130 km).

Parking is available near the temple for two-wheelers and cars. Karur town has a wide range of hotels and lodges for pilgrims. On festival days, please use the parking areas indicated by volunteers.

October to March is the most pleasant season. For festivals, the Tamil months of Aadi (July – August), Purattasi (Navaratri) and Panguni (annual thiruvizha) are especially special. April to June can be very hot, so plan darshan in the early morning or evening. See the season guide.
