Thiruvilakku Pooja on the full-moon evening — women devotees light and worship lamps together, praying for the wellbeing of their families.
The aalayam is open every day of the year. Timings are extended on festival days.

On eclipse days (grahanam), the sanctum is closed during the eclipse and reopened after purificatory rituals. Please contact the temple office for festival-day schedules.
The Agamas prescribe worship at six sacred hours of the day. Each pooja includes abhishekam or archana, naivedyam (food offering) and deepa aradhana (waving of lamps).
ஆகம விதிப்படி நாளின் ஆறு புனித வேளைகளில் அன்னைக்குப் பூஜை நடைபெறுகிறது — உஷத்காலம், காலசந்தி, உச்சிகாலம், சாயரட்சை, இரண்டாம் காலம், அர்த்தஜாமம். ஒவ்வொரு பூஜையிலும் அபிஷேகம் அல்லது அர்ச்சனை, நைவேத்தியம், தீபாராதனை நடைபெறும். அர்த்தஜாம பூஜையுடன் அன்னை பள்ளியறைக்கு எழுந்தருள்கிறாள்.
The Mother is awakened with Thiruppalliyezhuchi hymns, the sanctum is opened and the first lamp is shown.
Abhishekam with milk, curd, honey, tender coconut, turmeric and sandal, followed by the day's alankaram.
The noon offering of cooked rice, pongal and sweets, with a grand deepa aradhana.
The sacred twilight worship — lamps are lit across the temple and devotees gather in large numbers.
Evening archana with the chanting of Lalitha Sahasranamam and Tamil hymns to Amman.
The final pooja with milk naivedyam and palliyarai rituals, after which the sanctum is closed for the night.

Archana with the thousand names of the Goddess (Lalitha Sahasranamam) — especially sought on Fridays.
Sacred bathing of the deity with milk, curd, honey, panchamirtham, tender coconut, turmeric and sandal.
Sponsor a special alankaram — sandal, turmeric, flower or silk — for a birthday, anniversary or vow.
Offering a silk or cotton saree to Amman, which the Mother wears on the chosen day.
Fire ritual for protection and removal of obstacles, performed on auspicious days by prior booking.
Tonsure and ear-piercing ceremonies for children, performed before the Mother as a family vow.
Group lamp worship on Pournami and Aadi Fridays. Lamps and pooja materials are arranged by the temple.

Sprouted grains grown in pots by women and carried to the temple, praying for fertility of land and family.

காப்பு கட்டுதலுடன் தொடங்கி, கொடியேற்றம், நாள்தோறும் வாகனப் புறப்பாடு, பூச்சொரிதல், பொங்கல், பால்குடம், தீமிதி, தேரோட்டம் என ஊரே திரண்டு கொண்டாடும் அன்னையின் பெருந்திருவிழா, மஞ்சள் நீராட்டும் கொடியிறக்கமுமாக நிறைவுபெறுகிறது. வெளியூரில் வாழும் பக்தர்களும் இந்நாட்களில் குடும்பத்துடன் ஊர் திரும்பி அன்னையைத் தரிசிப்பது மரபு.
A sacred thread is tied on the Mother and the archakas, marking the start of the festival. Devotees observing vratham also tie kaappu.
The festival flag bearing the lion emblem is hoisted on the kodimaram, inviting the devas to the celebration.
Each night the utsava murthy of Amman is taken around the streets on a different vahanam — simham (lion), annam (swan), rishabam (bull), kamadhenu and kudhirai (horse).
Devotees shower flowers on the Mother, cook pongal in the courtyard and carry milk pots in procession.
Devotees who have observed strict vratham walk across the sacred fire-pit, their faith protecting them.
The chariot of Amman is pulled through the streets by thousands of devotees, to the sound of nadaswaram and drums.
Turmeric water is joyfully sprinkled on all, the flag is lowered and the festival concludes with thanksgiving.
